AndrĂ©-Pierre Gignac is a professional French footballer who currently plays for the Ligue 1 club Marseille. AndrĂ©-Pierre is widely regarded as a “dangerous and strong” attacker, and his colleagues and friends refer to him as “Dede.” He began his football career with local club ES Fos-sur-Mer, where he played five years before moving to hometown club FC Martigues, where he progressed and was promoted to senior club Lorient in the 2004-05 season.

He first played for a number of clubs before signing a five-year contract with Marseille president Jean-Claude Dassier in August 2010. Gignac received his first international call-up for World Cup qualifications, but was unable to play in the first match due to injury. He did, however, score his first international goal five months later and make his first significant international appearance for his country in the FIFA World Cup in 2010.
