Background

Cole joined Arsenal in 1997 with the goal of becoming a professional footballer. Arsenal was his hometown team, and he remained a fan until 2006. During his early career, he also had the opportunity to play for the junior national team.

Debut

In the 1999 FIFA Youth Championship, he made his England U20 debut. However, England did not do well in the competition, finishing last. Cole made his U21 appearances memorable by scoring a goal in one of the four games he appeared in. His senior team debut occurred against Albania in 2001, and despite being a defender, he failed to score a goal.

Ascend to Glory

Cole Cole was only given a shot in the senior team after four games at the U21 level. He was too powerful in defence and helped England save a number of goals. He went on to represent England in every major event, including the 2002 FIFA World Cup, the 2004 FIFA Euro Cup, the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

He is one of just a few players to have appeared in 100 international marches. Cole was a consistent member of the team during his time on the field. His critical saves and blocks had always benefited the squad.

Negative aspects

Cole’s play dipped during the 2013-14 season, and he was not picked for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. This was exacerbated when his team, Chelsea, failed to keep him as well. As a result, he retired from international football in 2014 and currently only plays club football.

Club Professionalism

Cole began his professional football career in 1999 as a youth player for the Arsenal club. He remained with the club for 9 years, winning different tournaments such as the Premier League in 2001-02 and 2002-03, the FA Cup in 2001-02, 2002-03, and 2004-05, among others.

After leaving Arsenal, Cole joined Chelsea FC and played admirably there. From 2006 to 2014, he appeared in 229 games for Chelsea and helped the team win a variety of championships, including the Premier League in 2009-10, the FA Cup (four times), the UEFA Champions League in 2011-12, the UEFA Europa League in 2012-13, and others.

Cole’s contract was not renewed in 2014, thus he joined the Roma club. However, the season did not go well for him, and he departed the club after a year. Cole rejoined the LA Galaxy in 2016 after a year away and has remained with the team to this day.
