Australia will face England in the third and final T20I match at Manuka Oval in Canberra.
England have been the better team in the ongoing series. When the series started, Australia were the firm favourite to clinch it, but as things stand, the visitors have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead and will be aiming for a clean sweep.
England have played like a team in the entire series, while the Aussies have been dependent on individual brilliance to bail them out of challenging situations.
Aaron Finch decided to demote himself to number 3 for the first T20I, but immediately rectified the mistake and was back at the top for the next game, Australia’s priority was working out the batting orders instead of focusing on winning the series.
Finch has not had the best season with the bat in hand, his form is still a cause of worry for the defending champs. The Australian Skipper scored a fifty in the opening contest, but he didn’t look at his fluent best and that would worry the team management slightly.
For England, Ben Stokes who took retirement from ODIs just to concentrate on T20Is and Test matches has averaged just 19 in the shortest format of the game and hasn’t done anything significant for England in this format.
England are likely to include the pace duo of Woakes and Wood for the last match and Australia might give Steve Smith a go too.
This is one last chance for both sides to correct their mistakes. One last dance to make their possible combination and fine-tune the team for the World Cup.
Can the Aussies salvage their pride and get a consolation victory or will England clean sweep the series? We’ll find out soon..
