How does the Champions League work?

Each European league qualifies a certain number of teams for the Champions League. This number varies depending on the league’s quality and can vary from one to four teams. To enter the tournament, some teams must compete in qualifiers, while higher-ranked teams are put directly into the group stage.

The group stages begin after the qualifiers are completed. There are a total of eight classes, each of four teams. Each group’s teams play each other twice, once at home and once on the road. The top two finishers advance to the knockout stages. Finishing first in your group has the advantage of forcing you to face the second-placed team in the next round.
