CIVILIANS forced to join Russia’s bloodbath in Ukraine are being handed rusty Kalashnikovs.
Raging recruits were filmed as AK-47s were given out from a military store in Primorsky, eastern Russia.
One said: “It’s the tank boys who were given this c*** [rusty Kalashnikov].
“They said, ‘you’ve got tanks, so don’t give a **** about the Kalashnikovs’.”
It comes as 2,000 protesters were arrested in the country over plans to send up to 1.2million to Ukraine.
Putin moved to crush protests by ramping up jail sentence for deserters to up to 10 years in a penal colony – and applied the new law to anyone refusing to “mobilise.”
He signed amendments to the Criminal Code outlawing desertion and surrender with a sliding scale of new punishments.
Thousands of men eligible for a call-up have been seen fleeing Russia, with some reported to have broken their own arms to escape the draft.
A rush of single men going to registry offices seeking to marry women who have several children was also reported – as family men can escape the draft.
Online searches for the phrase “How to break an arm at home” also rose as potential conscripts mulled drastic action.
