Background

Origi began his football career in 2001 at Genk Youth Academy, where he stayed for nine years before joining for LOSC Lille in May 2010 at the age of 15.

Later, he began his senior club career with Lille B, where he appeared in 11 games and scored twice.

Origi also played for Belgium at the U15, U16, U17, U19, and U21 levels, but his most notable performance came for Belgium U19, when he scored 10 goals in 19 games, the first of which came on October 12, 2012 during a UEFA European Under-19 Championship qualifying match against Belarus.

Debut

Origi was included to Belgium’s 23-man team to compete in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil in May 2014. In a Group H match against Algeria in Belo Horizonte on June 17, he made his debut as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku in the 58th minute.

In their second encounter, a 1-0 triumph over Russia, he scored his first senior international goal. He then became the tournament’s youngest goal scorer (19 years, 2 months, and 4 days old) until American winger Julian Green broke his record.

Rise to glory

Origi had a fruitful tenure with Liverpool, scoring 12 goals in 51 appearances for the Reds. His first goals for them came in the shape of a hattrick in a 6-1 League Cup quarter-final victory over Southampton.

Later, Jurgen Klopp picked him ahead Daniel Sturridge, who was their first-choice striker, and he demonstrated his value by scoring crucial goals against Borussia Dortmund and Stoke City.

Club career

In January 2013, he started his club career with Lille, where he was very inactive. He made his debut for them in February, when he came on as a replacement for Ronny Rodelin and scored a goal to help them win 1-0 over Troyes.

Origi joined Liverpool in the Premier League for a rumoured sum of £10 million in July 2014, however he was immediately loaned back to Lille for the 2014-15 Ligue 1 season.

During the 2014-15 season, Origi scored a hattrick in a 3-0 league victory against Rennes, but Lille was eliminated after losing 0-3 to VfL Wolfsburg.

He made his Premier League debut for Liverpool against Manchester United, which they lost 3-1. He came on as a replacement for Danny Ings for the final 16 minutes of the game.

Later in his career, he played for Liverpool, where he scored numerous match-winning goals, including a hattrick.

Origi joined VfL Wolfsburg on a season-long loan on August 31, 2017, for the 2017-18 Bundesliga season.
