Football betting Tips : Russia is outraged over Ukraine’s Euro 2020 football outfit

Ukraine presented their Euro 2020 jersey, which features its boundaries, including Crimea, as well as the motto “Glory to Ukraine!”

In 2014, Russia seized the Crimean peninsula from Ukraine and considers it part of its territory, a move that has been widely condemned globally.

It was described as a “political provocation” by a Russian MP.

“The shirt of the Ukrainian national team (and of all other teams) for Uefa Euro 2020 has been authorised by Uefa, in conformity with the appropriate equipment criteria,” Uefa stated in a statement to the BBC.

Andriy Pavelko, the president of the Ukrainian Football Association, revealed the uniform in a video posted on his Facebook page on Sunday, only days before the European Championship begins.

The white outlines of Ukraine, including Crimea and the pro-Russian separatist-controlled territories of Donetsk and Lugansk, are shown on the front of the yellow shirt.

“Glory to Ukraine!” says a message on the back, a patriotic shout adopted as a rallying cry by demonstrators who ousted pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych in 2014.

“We feel that the silhouette of Ukraine will give the players strength since they will battle for the entire country,” Mr Pavelko added.

However, Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for Russia’s foreign ministry, slammed the kits, claiming they “connected Ukraine’s land to Russia’s Crimea,” creating the “illusion of the impossible.”

She said that the chant was patriotic and reminiscent of a Nazi rallying cry.
