Gael Clichy is a French footballer who now represents Manchester City and the French national team. His physical profile is that of a left back who can also play as an attacking wingback. Clichy began his football career in the Haute-Garonnedépartement, where he played for amateur clubs such as JS Cugnaux, AS Muret, and Tournefeuille. He came to the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur area in 2001 to play professional football for the club Cannes. In the 2002–03 season, Clichy made his professional debut for the club. In 2003, he transferred to Arsenal in England after three seasons with Cannes.

Clichy was a part of the Invincibles, a squad that went unbeaten in the league season in his first season with the club. Clichy became the Premier League’s youngest player to win a medal. During the 2006-2007 season, he was permanently assigned to the starters’ position. In the 2007-2008 season, he had a 38-match win-loss record. He was named to the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Team of the Year for his efforts during the season.He won the Community Shield and FA Cup in 2004 and 2005 while playing for Arsenal, in addition to the league victory in 2003–04. Clichy was a member of the French youth national team. In September 2008, he made his senior international debut against Serbia in a 2010 World Cup qualifying match. At the 2010 FIFA World Cup, he made his first major international tournament debut for France.
