Biography of Gerard Pique
Gerard Pique Bernabeu is a professional footballer from Spain who currently plays for FC Barcelona in La Liga. Pique was born in Barcelona, Spain, on February 2, 1987. He’s a centre-back who’s widely regarded as one of the finest in the world.
Pique is a contemporary defender with superb passing and technique who, due to his height, is also adept in the air and has scored a number of headed goals. He can play defensive midfield and is often likened to German icon Franz Beckenbauer because of his style of play.
Gerard began his career with Barcelona FC’s junior system before moving to Manchester United, where he spent four years. Due of his age, he did not sign a professional contract with them.
In 2006-07, he was loaned to Zaragoza before returning to his childhood club. Pique has risen to prominence since then, and some even consider him a club legend.
Pique made his professional club debut for Manchester United in a league cup match on March 29, 2006, replacing Gary Neville, who was injured.

Gerard Pique was a regular member of Spain’s junior teams, appearing for every age group from 16 to 21. He was a member of the 2006 U19 European Championship winning squad in Poland.
He was called up to the national team in 2009 and has been a consistent member of the squad ever since. His first encounter was a friendly against England, and his second was a 2010 World Cup qualifying match against Turkey, in which he scored his first international goal in a 1-0 victory.
