The defending champion Gujarat Titans (GT) entered the IPL 2023 auction needing to fill seven seats, three of which were international. They kept 18 players from the victorious team and let go of six others. In their first season, the team led by Hardik Pandya defeated Rajasthan Royals to win the championship game. They are grouped with CSK, RCB, PBKS, and SRH in IPL 2023’s Group B.
IPL 2023 will begin with Gujarat Titans taking on Chennai Super Kings in the season opener. As the IPL switches back to a home-and-away schedule, GT will host its home matches at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. On May 21, the IPL 2023 championship game will take place.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Lockie Ferguson were traded by GT to KKR. Gurbaz was brought in as a replacement but did not appear in any Titans games. Ferguson, who bowled with express pace and picked up 12 wickets from 13 games, was crucial to Gujrat’s win.
The Titans did well to keep their starting lineup intact, keeping David Miller, Rashid Khan, Shubman Gill, and Hardik Pandya. Rahul Tewatia was another player who appeared in multiple cameos during IPL 2022 and ended up being a match-winner for the team. Every player who was kept had an influence on the squad, and the upcoming season will demand the same of them.
Initially, the forthcoming auction is scheduled to feature a total of 991 players. There were 277 foreign players and 714 Indian players together. At a base fee of 2 crores, 21 players have signed up, all of whom are international athletes. Prior to the IPL 2023 auction, the BCCI reduced the list of players from 991 to 405 players.
