India will take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening encounter of the ICC T20 World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne, on Sunday, October 23. The Rohit Sharma-led team will be hoping for revenge against the Babar Azam-led team for the humiliating loss in last year’s T20 World Cup in the UAE.
Former India cricketer Akash Chopra believes that Indian vice-captain KL Rahul will be the team’s leading scorer in the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra feels that the bounce and pace of Australian pitches will suit Rahul’s skill set.
KL Rahul Could Be The Top Run-scorer For India – Aakash Chopra
“KL Rahul could be the top run-scorer for India at the T20 World Cup 2022. He has an opportunity to bat all 20 overs, and he also has the game to bat till the end. These pitches will suit him a lot as the ball will come nicely onto the bat,” Chopra said.

India’s top-order woes continued throughout Asia Cup 2022, and the team was eliminated after losing against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super-4 stage. Since then, the team has seen Rahul and Rohit in better form and they have tried to go all guns blazing against the opposition.
Arshdeep Singh Will Like The Pitches In Australia – Aakash Chopra
Speaking about India’s bowling attack, which will be without Jasprit Bumrah, Chopra said that left-armer Arshdeep Singh would be crucial. He added that the player would be key in keeping India’s run rate under control during the middle and death overs.

“I believe it would be Arshdeep Singh. He is going to bowl with the new ball, and also in the death overs. It is also a possibility that he might be given the ball during the middle overs as well. He will like the pitches and the big grounds in Australia,” he said.
“If you say that you are the best team in the world and you say that you have the best depth, or you claim that your league is the best in the world, then without a doubt, you have to be overwhelming favourites to win the T20 World Cup,” he added.
