IND vs AUS: “Apart From My Childhood Coach And Family…The One Who Genuinely Reached Out To Me Has Been MS Dhoni” – Virat Kohli

Star Indian batter Virat Kohli is one of the best batters in the country, having achieved many records and milestones across all formats of the game. Virat Kohli revealed MS Dhoni’s message during his long lean patch for a period of two years, and the two share a good bond with each other off the field as well.

The 34-year-old was criticized for his performance as he hadn’t scored a century for a long time. However, the right-handed batter successfully turned things around after a tough time. Kohli ended his century drought against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup, continued his form, and became the top scorer in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

Genuinely Reached Out To Me Has Been Ms Dhoni – Virat Kohli

While speaking on the RCB Podcast Season 2, the first of the 10 episodes, Virat Kohli shared his bond with MS Dhoni and revealed that Dhoni has been the only person who has reached out to him during this phase of his career.

“I have experienced a different kind of phase in my career currently. It’s been a while since I felt (this) free in the sense how I felt all these years of playing at any level of cricket,” said Virat Kohli on RCB Season 2 Podcast.

“What is interesting is that throughout this phase apart from Anushka, who has been the biggest source of strength for me because she has been with me throughout this whole time and she has seen me very closely as how have I felt, things that I have gone through, the kind of things that have happened…the only person who, apart from my childhood coach and family…genuinely reached out to me has been MS Dhoni,” he added.

MS Dhoni Just Does Not Look At The Phone – Virat Kohli

Kohli mentioned that he rarely gets in touch with Dhoni because he does not look at the phone. Kohli said that he approached Dhoni twice, and both times the Jharkhand batter told him to be a strong individual.

“He reached out to me and you can rarely get in touch with him. If I call him on any random day, 99 percent he will not pick up (the phone), because he just does not look at the phone. So, for him to reach out to me…twice it has happened now and one of the things that he’d mentioned in the message while reaching out to me was that: ‘when you are expected to be strong and looked at as a strong individual people forget to ask how are you doing?’,” Kohli said.

Virat Kohli will next be seen in action in the third Test of the four-match series against Australia in the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy at the Holkar Stadium in Indore starting on Wednesday, March 1.
