England Cricket Team’s dashing batter Jason Roy is all set to lose his central contract. The right-handed batter had a torrid home season where he was unable to get a significant score on the board. There was a kind of last chance for him in the Hundred tournament but his form was nowhere great which is a concern.
Jason Roy would be disappointed after missing out on ICC T20 World Cup Squad 2022. The scintillating batter still has 3-4 years in him as he would be hoping that he rediscovers him. ECB would be keeping an eye on him as the batter has shown that he can be a match-winner on the given day.
Rob Key on Jason Roy
“It’s just a case of him finding form, and I’m sure he will have plenty of opportunities in the abundance of T20 cricket that there is around the world to find that form again.” said Key
“I would argue that the 50-over format is his strongest suit and we still see him as very much part of this setup. But, given his white-ball summer and then The Hundred, we feel it’s too much of a gamble to continue going into Pakistan and straight into Australia,” he added.
Crucial T20 World Cup for England
The 2010 T20 World Cup Champions need to be at their best to win the championship. The team is going through a rebuilding phase where they are trying to find their ideal combination. ECB would be happy that they are going to play 3 T20Is in Australia which will help them a lot.
Head Coach Matt Potts and Skipper Jos Buttler will have to be spot on with their selection and it won’t be a surprise if they apply horses for courses technique throughout the tournament. The management will have to make smart decisions as the dynamics of the game change quite quickly.
