Star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly been ruled out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 which is all set to take place from October 23 in Australia. The news comes as a massive blow for the Indian cricket Team who has been suffering in their bowling department since Asia Cup 2022.
Bumrah couldn’t take part in Asia Cup 2022 due to a back injury and now it has been reported that he has also been ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022. Bumrah had just made a return to professional cricket in the recently concluded Australia series wherein he played the last couple of matches in the three-match series for team India.
Mohammed Shami To Be A Likely Replacement For Jasprit Bumrah
Mohammed Shami, who is a part of the reserves in the India squad for T20 World Cup 2022 is most likely to replace the senior Indian pacer. Shami has been dissociated with the Indian Cricket Team ever since the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 but following India’s poor bowling in Asia Cup 2022, he was given a place in the reserves.
In the first T20I against South Africa, Indian captain Rohit Sharma reported at the toss that Jasprit Bumrah had a slight niggle in his back and that was the reason behind him not playing the 1st T20I vs South Africa. As per PTI, Jasprit Bumrah has now been ruled out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 and will not be a part of the Indian squad anymore. An official confirmation on the same is awaited from the BCCI.

The Indian reserve also includes Deepak Chahar who bowled extremely well in the first T20I against South Africa. The Indian pace bowling unit already has the deployment of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, and Arhsdeep Singh but with Bumraha now injured, either Deepak Chahar or Mohammed Shami will most likely get the nod in the playing XI for India.
