Lassana Diarra, often known as Lass, is a French footballer who now for Anzhi Makhachkala. He can play in a more advanced role and has played at right back, although being mostly a defensive midfielder. Lass began his football career with Le Havre. For £1 million, he joined Chelsea’s first team squad in July 2005. In October 2005, he made his Chelsea debut in the UEFA Champions League, when he came on as a substitute against Real Betis with Chelsea leading 4–0.He started in Chelsea’s League Cup Final victory over Arsenal at the Millennium Stadium, as well as entire Premiership games against Blackburn Rovers, Charlton Athletic, and Middlesbrough. Lass joined Arsenal for an unknown sum on August 31, 2007. He joined with Portsmouth the following year and made his debut against Derby County. He scored Pompey’s first goal in a major European game against Vitória Guimaraes on September 18, 2008.Real Madrid paid €20 million to Portsmouth for Lass Diarra on December 17, 2008. Lass signed a four-year agreement with Anzhi on transfer deadline day, August 31, 2012, for an unknown amount. Lass Diarra has eighteen caps for France’s under-21 team. In November 2005, he had one of his best performances in a UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship qualification match against England.
