Nicolas Sébastien Anelka is a French footballer who now plays for Shanghai Shenhua as a player and assistant manager. Anelka also played for the French national team on a regular basis. Anelka started his career with PSG, but he quickly went to Arsenal. The next season, he was promoted to the first team and earned the PFA Young Player of the Year Award. In 1999, he was purchased by Real Madrid for £22.3 million, but he struggled to adjust and was sold to Paris Saint-Germain for £20 million.Anelka returned to the Premier League in January 2002, going on loan to Liverpool before joining Manchester City for £13 million at the start of the 2002–03 season. After three seasons at Manchester United, he spent two seasons with Fenerbahçe before returning to England to join Bolton Wanderers in £7 million and £8 million agreements, respectively. In January 2008, he moved to Chelsea from Bolton with a reputed £15 million fee.Shanghai Shenhua announced on December 12, 2011, that they had struck a deal with Anelka to join them when the winter transfer window opens. Anelka has represented his country on several occasions, winning his first international medal with France at Euro 2000 and the Confederations Cup the following year.
