NZ vs ENG: WATCH- Joe Root Plays Outrageous Scoop Shot For Four In Second Test Against New Zealand

Joe Root, one of the best English batsmen to play cricket, has been consistently producing runs over the past few years. He became the team’s leading run-scorer despite the English team’s poor showing in the West Indies 2022 series and the Ashes 2021/22.

On the second day of their second Test match against New Zealand at the Basin Reserve in Wellington, England’s Root appeared rather pallid with the bat. Root got off to a good start and even scored a boundary by scooping Henry Nicholls.

Day 2 of the ongoing second Test at Wellington’s Basin Reserve pits New Zealand against England, who are down by seven wickets. As a result of Harry Brook and Joe Root’s epic efforts, the visitors had earlier declared their innings at 435/8.

Joe Root (101*) and Harry Brook (184*) were the only undefeated batsmen when England’s innings were resumed on Day 2 at 315/3. For England to firmly control New Zealand in the second Test on Friday in Wellington, hot-shot Harry Brook struck a beautiful 184 runs without being out. As the tourists rumbled their way to 315-3 before rain cut short the first day of the series finale early, Joe Root remained undefeated on a magnificent 101.

WATCH: Joe Root Plays Outrageous Scoop Shot For Four:

The scoop is one of the former England captain’s favorite shots. Root was seen doing it brilliantly multiple times in white-ball cricket. Root was observed practicing the talent in the inaugural season of the International League T20 during the summer of 2022. It was, however, an uncommon sight to watch him play such a dangerous shot in Tests. England has been experimenting with more aggressive tactics in Tests as part of coach Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes’ “Bazball” strategy. In that regard, Root’s scoop fits in nicely with the new plan.

England, which leads the series after winning the first Test, appears set to win the current Test as well after utterly dominating proceedings thus far.
