PSL 2023: “You Will Never See Sunil Gavaskar Criticising Rahul Dravid” – Ramiz Raja Slams Shoaib Akhtar For Taking A Dig At Babar Azam

Ramiz Raja, a former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), criticises former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar and calls him a “delusional person”. He also claims that Sunil Gavaskar will never belittle Rahul Dravid the way that retiring Pakistani players treat their current ones.

During a recent interview on a Pakistani television program, Akhtar made contentious statements concerning Babar Azam’s communication abilities. The veteran pacer ridiculed Azam’s English language abilities, claiming that the Pakistani captain “can’t speak English properly.”

With his remarks about Kamran Akmal, a former Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter, as well as Babar, the 47-year-old received a lot of backlashes. Raja referred to Akhtar as a “delusional superstar,” saying that it is more crucial to develop as a person before developing as a brand.

“Shoaib Akhtar is a delusional superstar. He also had an issue recently with Kamran Akmal. He wants everyone to become a brand, but it is more important to become a human first. First, become a human and then a brand. Our former players degrade our cricket brand by giving delusional statements.

“You will never see that happening in our neighbouring country. You will never see Sunil Gavaskar criticising Rahul Dravid. It only happens in Pakistan, where former players don’t let others do their job professionally,” Ramiz Raja said on Bol News.

“Shoaib Akhtar needs to get a graduate degree”: Ramiz Raja

When questioned about Akhtar’s desire to lead PCB, Ramiz Raja responded that the former sprinter must first earn a degree.

“He needs to get a graduate degree first in order to become eligible for the chairmanship of PCB,” Ramiz Raja added.

Only 46 Tests, 163 ODIs, and 15 T20Is were played by Akhtar, who made his Pakistan debut in 1997. His injuries ruined his career.

After the 2011 World Cup, he ended his career in international cricket. After retiring, he launched a YouTube channel, where he offers unvarnished opinions on a range of cricket-related subjects.
