Romelu Menama Lukaku Bolingoli is a Belgian professional footballer who currently plays for Manchester United in the English Premier League.
He’s one of the few players to reach 50 Premier League goals before turning 23, and he’s also the Belgian national team’s all-time leading scorer with 31 goals.
He was born in Antwerp, Belgium, on May 13, 1993.
Lukaku joined Rupel Boom, a local club, when he was five years old. During his childhood, his skills allowed him to transfer to elite clubs in the Belgian Pro League. He spent two years at Lierse, scoring 121 goals in 68 games.
Lukaku made his debut debut for Anderlecht in 2009, scoring his first professional goal against Zulte Waregem. Everton paid £28 million for his services in 2014.
He scored his first goal against West Bromwich Albion, his previous club. Manchester United signed him as a player. He scored a goal in his debut against Real Madrid.
Lukaku made his international debut for Belgium in a friendly match against Croatia in 2010. In a match against the Netherlands in 2012, he scored his first goal for his country.
Rise to glory
Lukaku received the Belgian Sportsman Promising Talent of the Year title in 2009 for his outstanding performance.
Lukaku scored his first hat-trick for Everton in a 4–1 win over BSC Young Boys in the UEFA Europa League in 2015. He finished the tournament with a total of eight goals and was named the tournament’s top scorer.
Lukaku became the first Everton player since Graeme Sharp to score at least 20 goals in a season when he scored his 20th goal for the club in 2016.
Lukaku began his career at Anderlecht, where he scored 33 goals. He also played for Chelsea, where he won the FA Cup in 2011-12. He played for Everton for three years and scored 53 goals. He is now a Manchester United player.
