Samuel Eto’o Bio


Samuel Eto’o Fils is a renowned Cameroonian professional footballer. He is Turkish club Konyaspor’s striker. He started professional football career with the club. He went to Kadji Sports Academy for training. He then joined Real Madrid’s youth system in 1997, although being the minor at that time, he was coached solely with Real Madrid B. He played for Leganés throughout the 1997-98 season. He returned to Real Madrid and subsequently joined Espanyol. But he didn’t success to make appearances for it. He was loaned to La Liga team Mallorca. He was able to play well for it. He left Real Madrid and signed a deal with Mallorca. He was with Mallorca till 2014, He signed Barcelona in 2004. He made debut with Barcelona at Racing de Santander.

After Maxwell’s move, he was transferred to Inter Milan under the arrangement of exchange of Zlatan Ibrahimovi? and Eto’o between Inter Milan and Barcelona. He was with Inter through 2011. In August 2011, Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala sought a three-year deal for him to Inter. He played for Anzhi Makhachkala through 2013. He played for Chelsea, Everton, Sampdoria, and Antalyaspor. He joined Konyaspor lately in 2018. He started his international career and got a cap just one day before his seventeenth birthday in 1997. He played for Cameroon National team. He had played in 2000 Olympic competition, Africa Cup of Nations, and World Cups. He has been excellent in his international games. He retired from the international football in 2014. He has received several major accolades for his services to the sport including African Player of the Year award, FIFA World Player of the Year etc. He has also received the Golden Foot Award in 2015.

He has the record of greatest amount of appearances in La Liga by any African player. He was the first to win 2 European continental trebles. He ranks 2nd in scoring in 2UEFA Champions League finals. He achieved 4th position in the record of player winning titles in two consecutive years with different teams behind Marcel Desailly, Paulo Sousa, and Gerard Piqué. He had suffered from the racist abuse in several games and has reacted to it by threatening to quit the game. He has been open about his experience.

He is a brother of two players Étienne and David. He is married to Georgette since 2007. He has 4 children Lynn, Siena, Étienne, and Maelle. Lynn and Siena are his children from the relationship with Georgette.
