Sergio Leonel “Kun” Aguero is an Argentine footballer who was born in Buenos Aires on June 2, 1988. He is a right-footed centre striker who plays for both Barcelona and the Argentina National Team. He was a two-time winner of the Under-20 World Cup while playing for Argentina’s U20 squad.


Sergio Aguero joined the Independiente Youth squad when he was nine years old and began playing football. At the age of 15, Aguero became the youngest player to play in Argentina’s Primera Division.

During the 2003-04 season, Aguero scored his first goal for Independiente in a 2-2 draw against Estudiantes.

Aguero scored 18 goals in 36 appearances for Manchester City in 2005-06. Then, for a rumoured cost of 15 million euros, Aguero went from Independiente to Atletico Madrid.


In 2005, he made his debut for Argentina’s U20 squad, winning the U20 World Cup in the process. In 2007, he won the U20 World Cup for the second time.

In his debut season at Atletico, Aguero scored seven goals. Aguero had a fantastic year the next year, scoring 19 goals for Atletico Madrid, helping them qualify for the UEFA Champions League and finishing as the league’s third top goal scorer.

The 2009-10 season was Aguero’s best ever, as he helped Atletico Madrid win the UEFA Europa League. In the 2-1 final victory over Fulham, he assisted both goals.

Aguero scored 20 goals in the 2010-11 season, including his first hat-trick against Mallorca. This was Sergio Aguero’s final outing for Atletico Madrid.

In the 2011-12 season, Aguero went to Manchester City for a rumoured cost of 45 million euros. He has put up some incredible performances for Manchester City, assisting them in winning two Premier League titles.


Aguero debuted for Argentina against Brazil in an international friendly at Emirates Stadium in London in 2006.

Aguero scored his first goal for Argentina in a World Cup qualifier match a year later.

Aguero has made significant progress at both the club and international levels. In the 2012 and 2014 seasons, he won the Premier League with Manchester City.

During the 2002-03 season, Aguero began his professional career with Independiente. He spent four seasons with the club before joining Atletico Madrid for a rumoured cost of 15 million euros.

Aguero spent five seasons with the club, scoring 74 goals. In 2011, he joined Manchester City for a price of 45 million euros. He has recently gone to Barcelona FC after scoring 143 goals for Manchester City.


After leading the Premier League in goals during the 2014-15 season, Aguero was awarded the Golden Boot. That season, he scored 26 goals and helped Manchester City win the Premier League.


After the 2016 Copa America setback, Aguero pondered retiring from international football, but subsequently changed his mind.
