Vincent Kompany is a Belgian footballer who was born on April 10, 1986, in Brussels. He is a member of the Manchester City football club in England and the Belgian national team. He is the captain of both of the teams named.


He began his professional football career at the age of 17 with Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht, a Belgian First Division club. In 2003, Kompany made his professional club debut for Anderlecht. He went to Hamburg SV in 2006 and stayed there for a couple of years until joining Manchester City in 2008. He debuted with the Sky Blues on August 24, 2008, and has been a key member of their all-conquering side ever since.

He earned his senior international debut against France when he was 17 years old in 2004. He has received over 80 caps for Belgium and was a member of the team that finished third in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
