Senior India National Cricket Team right-arm pacer Mohammed Shami joined the practice session of the team in Australia for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 and bowled in full rhythm in the nets.
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 began on October 16 with the group stage matches. The Super 12 round will commence on October 22 and the final is set to take place on November 13 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
In their tournament opener, Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team will lock horns with Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Ahead of their tournament opener, India National Cricket Team will be playing two practice matches against Australia and New Zealand on October 17 and 19 respectively.

On Sunday, October 16, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video on Twitter, in which Shami was seen being welcomed by the team in a huddle. Also, Shami, who has not played a T20I for India since the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 in UAE, looked in good rhythm during the net session.

Notably, India will be without the services of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. The premier pacer has been ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup due to a back injury.
On Friday, October 14, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the veteran India National Cricket Team right-arm pacer Mohammed Shami will be replacing injured Jasprit Bumrah in India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 15-member squad.
