India National Cricket Team express pacer Umran Malik, who is playing for the Rest of India, bamboozled Saurashtra captain Jaydev Unadkat in the Irani Cup 2022 on Saturday, October 1, at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot.
The Irani Cup, which is played between the Ranji Trophy winners and the Rest of India, is witnessing a one-off match between the Rest of India XI and 2019-20 Ranji Trophy champions Saurashtra in Rajkot. Notably, the match between Saurashtra and the Rest of India was postponed due to Covid-19 in 2020.
Meanwhile, the Rest of India won the toss and opted to bowl first in the match and the decision turned out to be an astonishing one for the side.
ROI Pacers Mukesh Kumar, Umran Malik and Kuldeep Sen decimated the Saurashtra batting unit and bundled them out for just 98. Mukesh bagged 4 wickets in the first innings while Umran and Kuldeep bagged three wickets each.
During the first innings, Jammu and Kashmir express pacer Umran Malik was brought into the attack by the skipper Hanuma Vihari in the 16th over. On the second ball of the over, the 22-year-old bowled a sensational yorker with his raw pace. The Saurashtra captain had no answer to the brilliant yorker and the ball went on to crash into the off stump.

Umran Malik To Travel With India’s T20 World Cup Squad To Perth
The Jammu and Kashmir express pacer got his India T20I call-up after a stellar performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
Umran Malik picked up 22 wickets in 14 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 games at an average of 20.18, an economy of 9.03 and a strike rate of 13.40, including a four-wicket haul and a five-wicket haul.
Among Indians as well as pacers Umran was the second-highest wicket-taker in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and overall he finished at the 4th spot on the list of leading wicket-takers. Also, the Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer Umran Malik won the Emerging player of the season award.
The 22-year-old made his debut against Ireland in June and was dropped from the side after he failed to impress in 3 T20I matches.
Meanwhile, a report in Sportstar claims that the right-arm pacer is all set to travel with India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 squad to Perth on October 6.
